oh, emily

The other day, I was playing with Emily. She grabbed me to give me a hug. And didn't let go. she jumped up and wrapped her legs around me. Then suddenly she realized that her pants might possibly have slid down a little too far. Worried, she yelled to Katie who was behind her.

"Katie! Is my butt cracking???"

I also just recently learned that she has been known to call her butt her "split end".

I don't think that it could get more original than that.

i can babysit

If anyone in the Provo area needs a babysitter, I'm free and willing. I'll only be here until the end of August/beginning of September, but I'm willing to take on random jobs until then. Comment if you think I might be able to help you out and I'll send you my phone number :).

free school supplies/books/files, etc. etc.

To anyone who is interested:

I have TONS of school stuff. TONS.

The year before my mission I taught 4th grade, as some of you know. I had originally planned to return to teaching after my mission, and so I packed everything up and kept it. But now that I'm here, I don't think I want to jump back into full-time classroom teaching right away. I don't think it would be healthy for me. For anyone who's ever been a teacher, they will understand this. For anyone that hasn't, well... just try to appreciate the extraordinary workloads and huge amounts of stress teachers carry on a regular basis. Cheerfully, I might add. :)

Anyway, getting back to the topic, I have to give all of this stuff away. I NEED to give all of this stuff away. It is currently occupying a much needed spot in my mother's garage, and she will appreciate all of us much more if we can vacate that spot as soon as possible.

Included in the stuff is:
  • lots of books of all varieties
  • files/lessons/worksheets from all subjects
  • tons of cool science visuals/examples like rocks, bugs, and other things of this sort, which I can't remember right now
  • pencils, erasers
  • prize coupons
  • on and on and on
There's tons of random stuff in there. But it's all good stuff. I promise.

If you need this stuff, or know someone who might need this stuff, or think that possibly someday in the future you might possibly want something that could maybe possibly be inside one of these boxes, please please please tell me. Call, text, email, facebook, leave a comment. Any method of communication is acceptable. Even telepathy. Maybe.

love this

she loves her mama's lemonade
hates the sound that goodbyes make
she prays one day she'll find someone to need her.

she swears that there's no difference
between the lies and compliments,
it's all the same if everybody leaves her.

And every magazine tells her she's not good enough,
the pictures that she sees make her cry.

She would change everything, everything, just ask her
caught in the in between of beautiful disaster
she just needs someone to take her home

she's giving boys what they want
tries to act so non-chalant
afraid they'll see that she's lost her direction

she never stays the same for long,
assuming that she'll get it wrong
perfect only in her imperfection

she's not a drama queen,
she doesn't want to feel this way,
only 17, but tired

she would change everything, for happy ever after
caught in the in between of beautiful disaster
she just needs someone to take her home

cuz she's just wishes
but no one's told her that's okay

she would change everything, everything, just ask her
caught in the in between of beautiful disaster
she would change everything for happy ever after
caught in the in between of beautiful disaster
she just needs someone to take her home

she just needs someone to take her home

released

After almost a week of being home from the mission, I finally was officially released from being a full-time missionary last night. It was an interesting experience... don't know if I could really say it was a positive one. BUT, the fact is that I am now officially released, which means I can officially do non-missionary things.

What should I do first?? Back the car up without someone standing behind me to back me? Go on a stroll all by myself? Watch a movie? Give a boy a hug? Listen to the radio???

The possibilities are endless...

Healing

As some of you know, I returned home to Seattle from my mission in Houston late Friday night. I was not expected to finish my mission until May 2010, but do to health concerns I am back sooner than expected. For now the plans are to focus on addressing those concerns.

Will I go back after things are taken care of? Who knows. Life takes crazy turns and one can never know where they'll end up next :)

I will be here in Seattle for the next week or so, and then I will more than likely be headed to Utah for a bit to work a little, etc. I'll probably end up working through this year, and possibly applying to grad schools for the following year. But, as I said, who knows. I'm just gonna go where the wind takes me ;)

ps. stay tuned! as soon as I can get my camera to connect to the computer, I'll upload tons of mission pics!
